Wehe ʻO Ta Rangi – Power Of The Pule Oli

Aloha, Welcome. We will embark on a mystical enchanting of the Oli Chant of HawaiʻI. Traditional we are adorning ourselves with the Malie Lei and Kupeʻe. 

In this Year 2024 the Wehe ʻO TaʻRangi ~ Tupuna/Tahuna, asked me to teach this to adorn our Lahui as we are weaving a Lei of Aloha ~ Uniting our heart and souls together in healing and raising our peoples Ka Uhane Nui, of the ʻBroken Promises and Shattered Dreamsʻ of those weʻve lost and unite ʻO TaʻRangi I ta Honua ~ Heaven and Earth Honua E Pili Mai.

Taking this across the world with our Kumu/Tupuna/Tahuna/Kahu to Pule for Peace; WEHE ʻO TAʻRANGI OF ALOHA IS LOVE IS ALL THERE IS–The Ancestorʻs chose this Oli because of the Kaona hidden in the Oli Chant….

THE OLI CHANTER PREPARATIONS:

Ke Lei maila is a sacred Oli Chant with so much “Kaona” hidden preparation, as the laʻau kahea chants, that will be imparted to you. The OLI;the tone vibrational sounds, the halau maile teachings of the adorns and how to make the adorns for protection of the chanter. The preparations of the use of the chant for FOUR DIRECTIONʻS, called the ʻPA HARAU ʻO TE ATUA – to call forth the Divine and guardian of the Ao the Light, to surround you in your healing medicine, lapaʻau, and in your laʻau kahea to heal Self; “E Nana I Ke Kumu:, Ohana; “E Nana I Ke Kumu Hana ame Na Ohana” and “E Nana I Ke Kumu LipoLipo” Warrior of the Light in our Lahui of Ao LIght.

Preparation for the Chanter/of the Oli ~ Kumu in the 70ʻs dedicated my life to the Healing Kahuna Aliʻi Nui and Hula is Life. I learned to gather the Laʻau Ti leaves, halau maile, that I/we prepared each week as a Olapa Kahiko Kapu Hula and Hoʻopaʻa, before the Kumu protocols.  Adornments, from the mountain to the sea. 

One of which is to select a Ka Uhane Pohaku: A Pohaku Stone that I used to prepare my adorns. This small pohaku stone is a precious tool to pound each leaf of the “Lei of Adrons”.. So delicate are these protocols given to me and the Olapa Kahiko dancers is to malama all of our tools, our laʻau, our selves and even the Meaʻia foods that we eat before the Kapu Oli Kahea, … 

Today I am in grace by the strict teachings of my Kumu Hula Aunty Maiki Aiu Lake, who taught and shared with us ~ that these teaching became my way of life. Each day I learned to gather the laʻau flowers, mauka (uplands) to the makai (sea lands) and weekly chanted for hours by the Sea. We would chant the Kapu Oli Kahea for years as a child, ka kamaliʻi keiki the tupuna. 

My Kumu Hula, and Kahuna Laʻau Kahea taught me how I would live on the honua, how I would prepare our laʻau, our leiʻs, our kupeʻe that protect us, and our pau skirts. As we practiced 3 x a week and Sat with our Keiki. In Hula is Life beside Us. Ae ~ I remember the Love ~ the Aloha Is forever in my heart and soul. 

Today as a spiritual leader, I was chosen to be a Kumuʻola, called to heal our Lahui. I have “Hula is Life” in my veins and the ancestorʻs have showed Kumu, at this Tupuna Age, we must pass on the “Ha Ike ʻOla in the our healing of our Lahui through the Oli ~ 

Hoʻola Healing is Life, Hula is Life ~ Oli Laʻau Kahea is Life. Aloha Is the Key and Peace is the Wau, Aloha Wau Loaʻ

The hala is from Naue, the woman is from Puna

Description: OLI KAHEA UNFOLDS IN ONES LIFE—THE GENTLE INUWAI WIND PRESENT A CALMING EFFECT OF THE TANE I TA WAʻIʻOLA “WATER OF LIFE”.

This popular oli is usually chanted while dancers tie lei about their ankles, wrists, head and neck in sequence. The tranquility and beauty conveyed by the words and melody of the chant prepares performers by enhancing their thoughts of peace during the final preparations before performance. In my opinion, the poetic allusions to lei, to drinking water, dazzling Niʻihau (the dancer) and the gentle Inuwai wind present a calming effect, while yet at the end of the chant, a promise of excitement and unpredictability represented by the spirit woman of Kîlauea leads one to look forward to the stories which are about to unfold in ones life..
